What is a Cocktail Ring?

A cocktail ring is a large and showy ring originally worn at cocktail parties. These are also known as Dress Rings. A cocktail ring can be made of Platinum, Gold or silver and can also be a piece of Costume Jewellery. It can be set with precious stones such as diamonds but as this would make them  very expensive the rings were often set with less expensive stones such as Spinels, Garnets, Peridots, and man made gemstones or with Rhinestones.
Cocktail rings are not normally worn in the left hand third finger ( ring finger) as that is normally reserved for a wedding or engagement ring which would be worn every day.

Vintage Cocktail  rings are back in fashion as is all sparkling vintage jewellery, the bolder the better for this comming party season so why not treat yourself to a bit of glitz and glamour?
