Newark and Swinderby Antiques Fairs February 2009
ByI notice that my tiny post on the Newark Antique fair from June last year has just attracted a couple of comments. This prompted me to take a look at when the next events are.
The Swinderby antiques fair is on February 3 and 4 ( awful music on that website be warned)
The Newark Antique fair follows on February 5 and 6
If you are planning your first visit to either of these fairs next month do wrap up warm. You need to prepare as if you were going for a days walking out in the country. Warmth, comfort and waterproofing are the order of the day. These are two events to forget your personal fashion and style and concentrate on the beautiful objects you are going to see instead.
Will you see me there – probably not. At this time of year I prefer the relative comfort of the auction rooms but if it is a bright sunny day I just might venture out as both fairs are great places to buy antique tiles.

As I must have said before I Hate the Swinderby antique fair . However I do apprecitate that there is a lot of trade done by those with large tents full of brown furniture and so its one of these horses for courses events. I hope you have all done really well at the fair this week

Personally I prefer Newark but htat probably depends on what sort of stuff you want to buy?
SWINDERBY IS ONLY GOOD FOR HOME AND INTERIOR BUYERS SUCH AS FURNITURE AND LAMPS.NEWARK IS TINY COMPARED TO WHAT IT WAS.ON DAY TWO THIS WEEK I BET THERE WERE A MERE 1000 STALLS.AS FOR THE ADMISSION FEES.20 QUID FOR DAY ONE OF NEWARK!!!!!NOT WORTH THE PETROL.IF U COLLECT CHINA FIGURES STICK TO EBAY.WASTE OF PETROL GOING THERE.
