The charm is really cute, but those bicycles were quite dangerous
I read somewhere that the term “taking a header” first came into use thanks to this high-wheel bicycle.
Because the rider sat so high above the center of gravity, if the front wheel was stopped by a stone or rut in the road… bicycle rotated forward on its front axle, and the rider, with his legs trapped under the handlebars, was dropped on his head.
Of course it caused some serious injuries, but looked really hilarious in the same time

This charm takes me back to my childhood; when things were so much simplet and families really stuck together. Thanks for reminding me to be thankful for being a child of the 60′s!!
This is such a cute charm – I have never seen one quite like it. My Mom passed along her tradition of the charm bracelet to me – she had one when she was younger and just passed away. This would be a great reminder to add to it as she always shared history tidbits with me and biking was an activity we would do together.
Such a cute little charm!! I love antique themed items that are not antique…if that makes any sense? I love the antique look, but would rather spend much less for newer antique looking items then the real deal which can sometimes cost a fortune..I actually have a few newer pieces that were made to look antique and it fools people everytime..
Adorable little charm!!!! We are a big bike riding and racing family and it would be so fun to have a cute reminder of the beginning of biking and how far it has come over the years
