Interested in a  bargain? Ive put a few items of vintage jewellery up for sale on eBay with no reserve and a starting auction  price of 0.99p. These auctions will run for a week starting today February 20 1011.

The three items currently are:

3 arts and crafts the guild buttons

The guild buttons

The guild buttons

Here are three pieces all stamped as “the guild button” on the reverse. These are silver plated and set centrally with Ruskin type pottery cabochons. As these are enclosed at the reverse I cannot determine for certain if they are Ruskin or another maker.

These all measures about 3.5 cms diameter.

Condition: one of these has the fittings for a belt buckle A second was once a brooch but the pin is missing. The third would have been a hatpin but the pin is missing. Please do get in touch with me if you would like to see a reverse picture

Silver gilt Masonic pendant or fob 1970s

Masonic pendant

Masonic pendant

A very unusual piece of Masonic jewellery which could be worn as a pendant or as a fob. This is silver gilt, silver with a gold coloured wash to give the appearance of gold. The reverse of this pendant / fob is fully hallmarked and the hallmarks date to 1976.

The center of the fob carries the Masonic emblem picked out in blue enamel. It measures about 2.5 cms wide . Currently this is attached to a matching silver chain which measures about 45 cms long. This piece of jewellery is quite substantial piece weighing about 12 grams.

Generally in excellent condition there is one pin prick nick to the enamel right at the point of the left hand side compass. This does not go all the way through the enamel and so it still displays as blue.

I have more photos available so please do get in touch if you are interested

  Silver and enamel fob Leeds

Silver Fob

Silver Fob

A nice silver fob featuring what I believe is the city crest for Leeds with detail picked out in blue and black enamel. This silver fob carries full silver hallmarks on the reverse and these can be dated to 1934. The fob measures about 2.5 cms wide.

The makers initials J.W.T are also impressed in the reverse. The reverse is plain other than the makers mark and hallmarks.  This fob comes complete with O ring as you see in the picture.

Posted by: | Comments (1)

There’s a real treat for Vintage Jewellery lovers over at antiquesavenue. I’ve a few special lots of genuine vintage costume jewellery available at bargain wholesale prices.

All of these lots of jewellery are packed full of genuine vintage jewellery.  Currently there is one lot of brooches and several lots of glass necklaces and I will be adding a few more collections over the coming weeks.

Please note all of my vintage jewellery collections are offered at a bargain price however I have not cleaned up the pieces, I am sending them out exactly as I have received them and you may wish to give them a gentle clean before wearing. The pieces are all quite wearable Eg catches and clasps working and no missing stones however there is likely to be minor signs of age as they are all genuinely vintage pieces of jewellery.

Lets take a look at one of these lots:

Vintage Jewellery V The World Cup

Posted by: | Comments (1)

It looks like the world will be going football mad in a few days. For a whole month the TV will be filled with football but what about all of us who find it a pointless waste of time and want to run as soon as we hear the start of the commentary? Vintage Jewellery lovers I’ve got some alternatives for you.

Now is the time to buy

As someone who has been buying Vintage and Antique items for many many years I would say that during the world cup will be a great time to buy Vintage Jewellery as I believe prices will be lower then. Prices are traditionally lower on eBay during the Summer than in the Winter for Antique and Vintage items. Add in an event like the world cup and  you have a real opportunity for a bargain.

I will be looking on eBay for items ending during the England matches. Few will be buying during that time and auctions will end low. Similarly with real life auctions and antique fairs, those held on world cup days are likely to be poorly attended by buyers and it is your chance to grab the goodies.

Learn about Jewellery

Learn about Jewellery

Learn something new

Time on your hands whilst your friends and partners are watching TV? What a great opportunity to learn something more about your favourite area of Vintage Jewellery or other antiques.

There are some great books or research on the Internet. Personally I will use any spare time to find out more about Designer Jewellery especially the Scandinavian silver designers and their history. If you are quite new to collecting vintage jewellery then perhaps a book on gemstones or one of Millers books on Costume Jewellery .

Websites are also a source of information but they tend to be less in depth than books although much cheaper. There is loads of information here on wwe.antiquesavenue.com if you dig around and use the search box.

Prepare for the selling season

Another way I will be spending this quite time during the football ( yes I expect to have less customers too) is to prepare for the selling season ahead. Sorting and cleaning stock, photographing it and adding as much as I can to antiquesavenue.co.uk.  If you are not planning on selling your jewels this year its still an great opportunity to clean your pieces and ensure that they are in good condition.

World Cup Final Discount

So I will be busy avoiding the World Cup by buying jewellery, Learning about it and preparing for the selling season . Everyone else will be having some excitement and so here’s an exciting offer from AntiquesAvenue for all of us who wont be watching the football. If England are in the world cup final I will give a discount of 20% for all orders placed during the World Cup Final Match. That’s a great offer from me as discount days are rare and normally only 10% . Spend the World Cup final with AntiquesAvenue instead.   I believe it’s during a Sunday evening and so I will be here on line during that time to answer any questions and help select your discounted Vintage jewellery.

Did you read my article About Cameo Jewellery?   I’ve a lovely piece of vintage Cameo Jewellery to give away. This cameo pendant is made of glass and set into gold tone metal and hangs from a sterling silver chain.

Cameo Pendant

Cameo Pendant

This pendant measures about 3.3 cms long and the silver chain  is about 38 cms long and is about 40 years old. The picture on this cameo pendant features a classical style lady and is probably a representation of a Greek or Roman Goddess.

Would you like this pendant for your own? I am giving it away and prepared to send it anywhere in the world.  Being a piece of vintage jewellery, I only have one of these cameo pendants to give away. The lucky recipient of this pendant will be the person who in my opinion best answers this scentence about my jewllery shop at www.antiquesavenue.co.uk  in less than 10 words..

AntiquesAvenue  is the best vintage jewellery site on the Internet because ……..”

Please leave your answer in the comments box of this blog. I will choose a winner by June 10th .

Thanks for your entries  and looking forward to picking a winner. Anne

Vintage Jewellery Sale and News

Vintage Jewellery Sale.

Its that time of year again,  after Christmas its traditional that retailers hold a sale and offer their customers a change to grab a bargain. AntiquesAvenue.co.uk is holding a vintage jewellery sale with a difference. Each day until January 10th I will be offering one special piece of vintage or antique jewellery at a low low price. You will be able to find a link to that item at the top of every page on my website during this time so please do check back every day and you might just find something which appeals to you.

Today I have on offer a vintage silver thistle brooch which was originally offered at £26 and is now just £15 including delivery.

Vintage Jewellery News.

Following a bumper Christmas I have been able to source some lovely fresh antique and vintage jewellery for you. This week and next I will be adding an excellent selection of 1970s vintage silver charms, some mid 1900s vintage necklaces and more silver alberts and a couple of fobs.

Also a few more special gold charms. As you must have seen the price of gold has gone orbital recently and so these vintage charms are getting harder and harder to find. Unfortunately many folks are selling their vintage gold jewellery to the scrappers – what a pity. I rescue the pieces of vintage and antique gold jewellery I can but with prices forecast to rise even further I suggest you buy them now too.

That’s all for today – Happy Hunting

Anne
