Dog Charms
Posted by: | CommentsDog jewellery of all kinds is popular. You can find dogs as brooches, pendants and earrings. Today I am looking as Dogs as Charms.
Vintage charms shaped as dogs can be found from the Victorian era right through to today. Look hard enough and you will find dog charms made of silver, gold glass, plastic and base metals. You can find comic dog charms and also realistic dog charms made in the shape of specific breeds.
Here is just a selection of genuine vintage dog charms I have found:
Pluto Charm
A cute articulated vintage silver charm . Here is Pluto who’s head and tail move separately from body and legs. This vintage charm dates from circa 1960s or 1970s and it measures about 17 mm long and is suitable for hanging from your silver charm bracelet
Dog chasing cat up lamp charm
Here is a cute charm. A dog has chased a cat up a street lamp. The lamp is set with a pink crystals and there is the Nuvo makers mark on the base . This charm measures about 3 cms high and dates from circa 1970s.

I love this vintage charm, In the shape of an egg, this vintage charm is made of silver and there is a bow decoration on the front. Open up the egg and inside is a tiny bird sitting on her nest of eggs. This is a very well made vintage charm and quite unusual. This charm measures about 2 cms long.
Have you seen a charm quite like this one before? I haven’t. What an eggcellent gift it would make .
If you like charms which open and has a cute surprise inside I am also offering an acorn with a squirrel inside, a mushroom with a pixie and a Doctors bag which opens to reveal a baby inside.
Building Charms.
Charms in the shapes of buildings are always fun especially when we can name the building or monument. Just added into the shop are St Pauls Cathedral and the Blackpool Tower. If you are interested in building charms I also have a few churches, a water wheel and some cute windmill charms.
I’ve also been adding to my range of Nuvo silver charms which now include, moving piano player, man in bottle, opening Bible with Angel, Dog chasing cat up lamp and an opening moped helmet. Take a look there are quite a few more rare Nuvo silver charms available . Also I have a specialist area devoted to Chim Charms which whilst possibly less sought after than Nuvo charms are of excellent quality.

Comb charm not often seen on its own. Here is a vintage silver comb charm combined into a hairdressing set.
Church charm
This vintage silver charm is in the shape of a church.The church opens at the base and inside is a wedding scene.The silver charm measures about 2 cms high and could be hung from a silver charm bracelet or as a pendant on a chain.
Coffee Pot Charm
This vintage silver charm is made of silver and set with a citrine coloured crystal. This vintage charm is in the shape of a coffee pot and will date from circa 1970s. It measures about 2 cms long and will add a splash of colour to any vintage silver charm bracelet.
Andy Cap
Here is Andy Cap immortalized in a silver charm. Andy Cap, according to Wikipedia: Andy Capp is a British comic strip created by Reg Smythe, seen in The Daily Mirror and The Sunday Mirror newspapers since August 5, 1957.
This little silver charm most likely dates from the 9170s when Andy Cap was particularly popular. He measures about 2.2 cms high
Cameo Charms
Posted by: | CommentsCameo jewellery is often seen as brooches, rings and earrings. Less common but just as attractive are cameo charms, I suppose that these are found less often as a charm is small and therefore the picture is difficult to carve in miniature. Cameos are carved so that the picture stands proud of the background. Often but not essentially the design is in a contrasting colour to the background.
Cameos can be made from all sorts of materials, normally we think of shell cameos as can be seen in this cameo charm:

China man charm
A lovely vintage gold charm made of fully hallmarked 9 carat gold. This charm is in the shape of a china man. The charm measures about 1.5 cms high and 1.7 cms wide. This gold charm is suitable for wearing from a gold charm bracelet.
Champagne charm
This gold charm is in the shape of champagne bottle in its champagne bucket. This is a fully hallmarked vintage gold charm and is made of 9 carat gold. This charm is quite large measuring about 2.4 cms high and could be either worn on a charm bracelet or on a necklace as a pendant
Church charm
This gold charm is in the shape of a church and when you open it there is a Bride and groom standing in front of an alter. This charm is made of 9 carat gold and is fully hallmarked. It is quite a chunky charm and measures 1.9 cms high
Chick Gold Charm
A super opening gold charm. This is a nice vintage gold charm in the shape of an Easter egg which opens and inside in a cute little chick. This charm is fully hallmarked as 9 carat gold and when closed it measures about 1.4 cms long

i bought, what looks like, a very very old charm bracelet at an auction yesterday for $ 25.00. i was wondering if you could help me find out when it was from and what all the charms mean. it has 14 charms and they are very interesting and some are movable. i will send you a pic or a list of what the charms are if you like

A vintage charm collection can be built in many ways, one of the most interesting is to pick a theme and build a charm bracelet around that theme. Some interesting themes include: a charm from each of the Zodiac signs, charms with a circus theme, charms with a holiday theme or charms related to love. Here is a lovely selection of charms all with a clock theme.
Cuckoo Clock Charm
A large moving silver charm in the shape of a Swiss Cuckoo clock. The Cuckoo moves in and out as the weights move back and forward. This is quite a large silver charm and would well hanging from a chain as a pendant – quite a versatile piece of vintage jewellery. This charm measures about 3.4 cms long and weighs about 9.5 grams
Mantle Clock Charm
Here is a very rare vintage silver charm made by Nuvo and dating from circa 1970s. This is in the shape of an antique clock supported by two cherubs. Clocks like these were made in France in the Victorian era. This Nuvo charm is quite large measuring 2.8 cms wide
Alarm Clock Charm
A nice vintage charm made of silver and in the shape of an old fashioned alarm clock. This is an opening charm and it measures about 2 cms high plus bail. This is very suitable for any vintage silver charm bracelet.
Antique Clock charm
This vintage charm is in the shape of an antique clock. It was made by Nuvo and carries the makers name. This charm measures about 2 cms high and dates from circa 1970s
Time Flies Charm
What a very rare and unusual gold charm This must be “Time flies” which is represented by a fly with a clock on its back. The hands of the clock turn. This vintage gold charm is fully hallmarked as 9 ct gold and it measures about 2 cms long including the bail. This lovely charm weighs just under 3 grams
Old Father Time Charm
An opening silver charm in the shape of an alarm clock. Around the face is written ” Time and tide wait for no man. The alarm clock opens and inside is Old father time himself.
This charm measures about 12mm diameter and it dates from circa 1960s
Articulated gold charms – Letter C

An unusual vintage caravan charm. This charm is made from fully hallmarked nine carat gold . The top reads “Happy Days”. The caravan opens and inside is a movable prop which reads ” Wot no horse”. The prop can be used to keep the roof of the caravan open. This charm measures about 2 cms long and weighs about 3.5 grams
