Louis Wain – Cat artist extrodinaire
Posted by: | CommentsAbout 30 years ago I was on holiday somewhere in the North of England and wandered into an art gallery which had a selling exhibition of cat pictures. Being a poor impoverised student at that time the asking price of £75 and up was way out of my league. Looking back I think I should have sold my body or at least my soul to the devil and bought those original Lois Wain cats. What a great investment they would have been and how wonderful to have owned and appreciated them whilst they went up in value.
As well as being responsible for some amazing anthropormorphic cats Louis Wain prodused a few ceramic designs – These are very rare and most desirable. This cup, saucer & plate trio is being offered by me on eBay starting this evening.
Collectable Elephant Figurines

Animals have long been a popular collecting field: Dogs, Cats, Horses, Pigs and Frogs to name a few of the most sought after. Recently I have noticed how popular Elephant figurines are and how difficult it is to find a good old art pottery elephant figurine – very few must have been made. So I am very pleased to be able to offer two nice elephants:
Antiquesavenue.co.uk shop has a blue elephant figurine by Poole pottery : Blue elephant
Starting tomorrow evening this lovely old Art Deco orange Elephant figurine from Czechoslovakia will be for sale in AntiquesAvenue on eBay:
Ring Sizes
Posted by: | CommentsDon’t know what size ring you need?
As with most other things, rings are measured differently depending which country you live in. I provide UK and USA sizes in all my ring descriptions. There is a different sizing system used in Europe.
You can buy ring sizing gauges but if you don’t have one handy you can estimate your ring size. Take a piece of string and wrap it around the widest part of your finger (possibly the knuckle joint?) – you can now measure the string in millimetres and use the ring size chart
If in any doubt please do ask before making a purchase.
