Flower Fairy plates & Russian Fairy Tales
Posted by: | CommentsStarting tonight and continuing over the next 3 weeks I have a large collection of fantasy, Russian fairy tale and Cecily Mary Barker Flower fairy plates for sale – about 80 different plates in total!
These are from the best manufacturers: Royal Doulton, Border Fine Arts, Heinrich Villeroy Boch & Crown Staffordshire amongst others.
Cecily Mary Barkers flower fairies were first published in the 1920s, each fairy is associated with a flower and comes with its own cute poem for example:.
The Snapdragon fairy :
Into the Dragons mouth he goes;
Never afraid is he!. There’s honey
Within for him, he knows, Cleaver
Old Bumble Bee! The mouth
Snaps tight; he is lost to sight-
How will he ever get out?
He’s doing it backwards – nimbly
Too, though he’s somewhat stout!
Off to another mouth he goes;
Never a rest has he.
